The Police Service Commission (PSC) has sanctioned the appointment and deployment of Commissioners of Police to ten State Commands across the nation.
This development follows the elevation of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners.
The newly appointed State Commissioners of Police include Peter Ukachi Opara, formerly Deputy Commissioner of Administration in Imo State, now posted to Osun State; Olughemiga Emmanuel Adesina assigned to Benue State; Akinwale Kunle Adeniran to Ekiti State Command, and Mohammed Umar Abba to Adamawa State Command.
CP Beneth Igwe has returned to the Federal Capital Territory Command as its Commissioner, having previously served as DCP, Operations in the FCT Command; Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi, CP of the Force Secretary’s office, has been posted to Delta State Command; Ademola Waheed Ayilara, former DCP of State CID Lagos Command, now heads the Akwa Ibom State Command; David Iloyanomon, former DCP of Administration in Anambra State Command, has been appointed to lead the Taraba State Command; Abayomi Oladipo Peter takes over Ondo State Command, while Hassan Abdu Yabnet is appointed as CP of Plateau State Command.
PSC Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, retired Inspector General of Police, advised the new Command CPs to rebuild public trust through robust partnerships with the community.
He emphasized that the Commission will not tolerate any excuses for failure to provide effective and efficient leadership.
Arase assured the Commission’s continued support but cautioned that the security of lives and properties in their jurisdictions must not be overlooked.
