The Federal Government is moving forward with plans to relocate the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment to a new headquarters, Trade Minister Doris Uzoka-Anite revealed during a meeting with directors in Abuja on Wednesday.
The minister, currently operating from the Bank of Industry headquarters, confirmed the relocation plans in a statement by the ministry’s information officer, Henry David.
I want to assure everybody that our plans to move to our new site are on course as soon as the partitioning and furnishing are done subject to budget readiness, she said during the meeting.
Former Edo State Governor and current Senator Adams Oshiomhole had criticized the minister’s decision to work from the Bank of Industry office, urging her to prioritize her ministry duties.
In response, the minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Toluwase Moyan, emphasized that her absence from the headquarters did not hinder her commitment to delivering the government’s mandate.
The ministry has allocated N2.14 billion from the 2024 budget for various purposes related to the new headquarters, including office furniture, building repairs, and office creation.
The ministry reaffirmed its dedication to its three-focused agenda of reforming the economy, accelerating digital industrialization, and fostering job creation, urging directors to align initiatives with economic revitalization and citizen employment.
