The Senate Committee on Information criticized the Ministry of Information’s budget allocation. Committee Chairman Kenneth Eze expressed concern about the N1bn capital budget, deeming it insufficient for crucial programs like reorientation and branding campaigns.
He also raised issues about the lack of funding for agencies under the ministry, emphasizing the importance of adequate support for effective operations and public communication.
Eze questioned the viability of achieving the country’s information sector transformation with such a limited budget, emphasizing the ministry’s role in the nation’s renewed hope agenda.
He further inquired about funding for agencies’ personnel and expressed doubts about their ability to operate without adequate resources.
