Senate Public Account Committee, chaired by Senator Wadada, is delving into a N62 billion revenue discrepancy at the Nigerian Customs Service based on a 2017 audit.

The investigation seeks to understand the potential lapses in the customs service’s internal control system that may have contributed to the unremitted funds.

The committee emphasizes its aim is not punitive but to enhance accountability and effectiveness within government agencies.

Additionally, the Nigeria Ports Authority is expected to address queries regarding debts exceeding $850 million owed by terminal operators, along with outstanding amounts for estate rent, shipping dues, and service boats, totaling over $68 million.
