SERAP has called on World Bank President Ajay Banga to suspend loans to Nigeria’s 36 states due to concerns about the mismanagement of public funds.
The organization also urged the World Bank to investigate the utilization of over $8.5 billion in loans and facilities by the state governors.
SERAP emphasized that issuing loans to states with credible allegations of mismanagement is neither appropriate nor responsible lending.
The organization warned of potential legal action if the World Bank fails to implement the recommendations and urged the Bank to demand commitments from governors to address mismanagement allegations.
