Shop owners in the Ikotun area of Lagos State are seeking compensation three years after their shops were demolished to expand a roundabout in the Alimosho Local Government Area.

Over 90 shops were affected when the demolition took place in 2020. Despite promises from the state government officials, the shop owners claim that they have not received any compensation. Each shop was valued at N3 million before the demolition.

These business owners, who relied on their shops for their livelihood, are struggling to make ends meet and are still waiting for the compensation they were assured.

The demolished structures remain untouched and are now occupied by petty traders. The local council chairman clarified that the compensation process is being handled directly by the state government.
