The National Judicial Council has selected 11 Justices to fill vacant positions at the Supreme Court.

While the constitution mandates 21 Justices for the apex court, it currently has 10 due to the retirement of Justice Musa Dattijo in October.

The NJC screened 22 candidates shortlisted by the Federal Judicial Service Commission, and the successful candidates, including Justice Haruna Tsammani, were listed on the NJC’s website.

Among them are Justices Moore Adumein, Jummai Sankey, Chidiebere Uwa, Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, Obande Ogbuinya, Stephen Adah, Habeeb Abiru, Jamilu Tukur, Abubakar Umar, and Mohammed Idris. The NJC is expected to forward these names to the President for approval before Friday.

Additionally, the NJC recommended Justice Mohammed Ahmed Ramat for the Court of Appeal, and Justice Joel Agya and Justice Umar Abubakar for Chief Judges of Taraba and Kebbi states, respectively.

Kadi Mukhtar was also recommended for the appointment as the Grand Kadi Sharia Court of Appeal in Kebbi State.
