United Nigeria Airlines’ Sunday flight, originally bound for Abuja, took an unexpected turn, landing in Asaba, Delta State. Passengers expressed shock, claiming they were not informed of the diversion.
Social media reactions varied, with some praising the airline’s caution while others criticized the lack of communication.
The airline, through its Head of Corporate Communications, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, later clarified that the diversion was due to poor weather in Abuja.
The pilot was reportedly aware, but a misleading announcement by the cabin crew upon landing in Asaba caused confusion.
The flight eventually reached Abuja safely after weather conditions improved. United Nigeria Airlines emphasized its commitment to passenger safety.
