In Taraba, a tragic incident occurred in Jalingo, the state’s capital, where a former student allegedly fatally stabbed a teacher.
The victim, Mr. Bassey Sardauna of Government Model School, Jalingo, was attacked following a previous altercation. The suspect, identified as James Williams, is currently at large, and the police are actively searching for him.
The confrontation began when the former student, accompanied by a friend, walked through a line of students waiting for inspection.
Mr. Sardauna questioned this behavior, asking why the students didn’t follow the proper procedure. An argument ensued, leading to the teacher striking one of the two with a stick.
The former student had come to the school to seek assistance from one of his teachers in signing his Air Force application form, as requested by his father.
When the school authorities learned of the incident, they called in local vigilantes for security.
However, the vigilantes left shortly before closing time, and as the teacher and some colleagues were preparing to leave, the two boys, who had been hiding, attacked and fatally stabbed him.
Governor Agbu Kefas has ordered an investigation into this tragic event and enhanced security measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
