TETFUND Aims To Upgrade Nigerian Universities And Institutions For Global Appeal.

TETFund is dedicated to enhancing the infrastructure of Nigeria’s higher education institutions to attract international students.

During a meeting with a UK government team on International Education in Abuja, TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Arc Sonny Echono, highlighted the importance of partnerships with UK institutions and emphasized skills development for Nigerian educational institutions.

Echono mentioned ongoing evaluations of 253 beneficiary institutions based on research output and internationalization efforts, aiming to enhance global competitiveness and ensure international recognition for graduates.

The collaboration also focuses on creating mechanisms for sponsored scholars to contribute to Nigeria’s education system after completing their studies, addressing the issue of brain drain.

UK Government International Education Champion, Prof. Steve Smith, affirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria’s education and research systems, emphasizing collaboration opportunities and the cost-effectiveness of studying in Nigeria compared to the UK.

Prof. Smith also mentioned the partnership with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish guidelines for transnational education.
