The community of Ilobu in Osun State is seeking assistance from Governor Ademola Adeleke to prevent a potential disaster.
Public school students in the area are facing difficulties as they have to navigate debris and a collapsed bridge to access their schools.
The bridge connecting neighboring areas to Ilobu Grammar School has given way, forcing students and teachers to traverse a river and debris.
Additionally, the Laaro bridge, which connects Ilobu central town to other parts, has been destroyed by erosion, isolating residents from the main part of the community.
Pastor Olufemi Salako, the President of Ilobu-Asake Development Union, appealed to the Governor and the ecological fund office to come to the community’s aid.
He expressed concern that despite their previous pleas, no action has been taken, and tens of thousands of people are now isolated due to the bridge’s collapse.
