Siwes student, Ojo Jeremiah Oladipupo from Efon Poly, extends heartfelt congratulations to The PUNCH Newspapers for clinching the Newspaper of the Year Award at the 31st Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA).
The recognition ceremony, held at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos last Sunday, saw The PUNCH Editor, Mr. Adedayo Oketola, also honored with the Dele Giwa Prize for Editor of the Year. With a total of 32 nominations, The PUNCH secured an impressive 11 awards.
Brig. Gen. Mohammed Marwa, Chairman and CEO of NDLEA, personally conveyed his congratulations to Mr. Joseph Adeyeye, the Managing Director of Punch Nigeria Limited, acknowledging the well-deserved accomplishments.
In his letter, Gen. Marwa commended The PUNCH’s consistent dedication to wholesome journalism and highlighted their efforts in educating Nigerians about the perils of substance abuse.
Expressing gratitude for The PUNCH’s support throughout the year, Gen. Marwa stated, We have a valued media partner in The PUNCH for your support via news reports and editorials that educate Nigerians about the dangers of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in our society.
In a separate letter addressed to Editor Adedayo Oketola, Gen. Marwa praised his outstanding work and growth in journalism, noting that the Editor of the Year recognition by NMMA was well-deserved and not surprising.
