President Bola Tinubu has called for a meeting to address the ongoing political crisis in Ondo State, with key stakeholders scheduled to convene this Friday at 2 pm in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Participants include Ondo State Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, aides to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and members of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
In the wake of the political deadlock between Governor Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State House of Assembly sits empty, as their planned meeting to address the impasse this Friday morning was postponed for undisclosed reasons.
Despite the deserted assembly, security personnel are on duty, and there are no signs of an imminent crisis.
The assembly members, originally set to transfer power to the deputy governor in an acting capacity during their morning session, were delayed in Abuja for the Aso Rock meeting.
The rescheduled meeting later in the day has left the assembly in suspense, with no lawmakers present as of the time of this report.
Phone calls to the House spokesperson, Hon. Olatunji Oshati, for clarification remain unanswered.
