In a devastating incident, two boats transporting residents of Ngo Town, Ataba, Isiama, and other Andoni communities to Bonny Island sank, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least eleven people, including five infants.
The boats, carrying over 25 passengers, were overwhelmed by a heavy wave near Bonny River. Despite a delayed rescue effort, 14 individuals were saved, leaving a heartbreaking toll of 11 lives lost, including the children and grandchild of Mr. Ayayi Promise Festus, the boat’s owner.
Currently, three bodies have been recovered, while eight individuals remain missing, prompting ongoing search efforts.
