Witnesses recount that the explosion, triggered by a gas tank, critically injured Faridat and her mother, Mrs. Bose Shittu, both currently receiving medical care at LASUTH. The blast also inflicted burns on Faridat’s grandfather, grandmother, and uncle, who were visiting and sustained injuries during the incident.
Facing financial strain for medical treatment, the family appeals for assistance. The tight-knit community is coming together to support them during this distressing time.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Faridat’s grandmother describes the horrifying event, recounting how an attempt to fry meat led to an uncontrollable fire, culminating in a devastating gas explosion. The resulting injuries are profound, with the grandmother expressing unprecedented pain.
Despite the destruction of a 14-room building housing multiple families and shops, the immediate concern revolves around the injured victims, emphasizing the profound impact of this tragic incident on the community.
