In a devastating incident on the Oru Ijebu-Igbo Road in Ogun State, three individuals lost their lives during an early Tuesday morning collision between a Toyota Camry and a tricycle. The driver, reportedly a learner, made a fatal error leading to the accident.
An eyewitness, speaking anonymously, revealed that the car veered from its lane, colliding with the tricycle and sending it into a ditch. Among the casualties was the tricycle driver.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that the Toyota Camry owner, teaching his wife to drive on the highway, fled the scene with his family upon realizing the gravity of the situation.
Akinbiyi explained, The woman pressed the acceleration pedal instead of the brake, causing the car to collide with the tricycle.
The tricycle, overloaded with six passengers, resulted in three fatalities and three injuries. The vehicle was later vandalized and set ablaze by the angered crowd.
