UNICEF reveals that between 2016 and 2021, more than 650,000 children in Nigeria were displaced by floods.
The UN emphasizes the alarming risks faced by over 110 million Nigerian children due to climate change, encompassing flooding, drought, and storms.
Released on World Children’s Day, the information underscores the intersection of child rights and climate impact.
Nigeria, ranked as the second most vulnerable globally concerning children’s exposure to climate change, confronts severe challenges, as highlighted by Dr. Salisu Dahiru, the Director General of the National Council on Climate Change.
He stresses the urgency of a swift and comprehensive response, emphasizing the inclusion of vulnerable populations, especially children and women, at both decision-making and implementation levels.
